It mainly consists of solar collectors, hot‑water storage tank, support frame, pipelines and control system.
The solar collector absorbs heat from the sun and transfers it to water to raise its temperature. Hot water is stored in an insulated tank and supplied for domestic use such as washing and bathing in homes, hotels and factories.
Advantages: It uses free solar energy, saves electricity and produces no pollution.
Disadvantages: It cannot generate enough heat on cloudy, rainy days or at night, so it is often equipped with an electric heater or air‑source heat pump as an auxiliary heat source.
